Armenian doctors who came from France worked for 2 weeks at Maralik School No. 1 and examined more than 300 children, providing them with glasses as needed.

The charity program, which unites French-Armenian doctors, is called "Glasses for Armenia".

Children's examination goes through 3 stages: computer diagnosis is followed by a more detailed vision check, and the last stage is the selection of glasses. A large number of optical lenses and a wide variety of frames have been brought from France, so that the children can choose the one that they will wear with more pleasure.

The partner of the UMAF organization representing French-Armenian doctors is Acba Bank, with which cooperation has a 7-year history. Every year French-Armenian doctors, with the support of the bank, implement a free ophthalmology program for children in different regions of Armenia.

"There are many cases of astigmatism in Armenia, it is good if astigmatism is prevented at an early stage. Myopia and astigmatism are common in Armenia," said Levon Artinyan, a member of the French Medical Association and co-founder of the program․

"We always went to the villages, we never came to Yerevan, because Yerevan is a big city, it is the capital, everything is there. It is much more difficult for families in villages. That is why we have always preferred to go to villages, we have always tried to go to different villages, different regions, so that all children get glasses. Acba Bank is a very important institution for us because it has given us great support. Without the help of Acba Bank, we would not have been able to work in this way and see so many children," said Petros Ohanyan, a member of the Armenian Doctors' Union of France and co-founder of the program.

In the first phase of the project, the French-Armenian doctors trained village school nurses to be able to pre-select children who have vision problems. They worked with more than 30 nurses to carry out the necessary checks. Already selected children are helped to see the world more clearly and accurately by doctors who came from France.

This year, more than 500 elderly people have also benefited from the program, and they have also been provided with glasses.
